Charlotte understands the complexities that are involved in family law litigation and she takes the time to fully understand the individual needs of each client’s unique situation.
As a frequent author and speaker at family law seminars, Charlotte’s bibliography includes a diverse range of topics from complex property issues, child custody, ethics, evidence, and trial tactics. Her commitment to continuing legal education has also included her leadership as course director for one of the most well-respected family law seminars sponsored by the State Bar of Texas as well as her inclusion as a faculty member and speaker at many other seminars throughout the state.
In 2005, Charlotte was board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Over the years she has devoted countless hours to the advancement of the family law profession, including serving as the Chair of the Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists, a regional organization devoted to promoting education, ethics, and professionalism in the field of family law. A proud member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a national organization limiting participation to family law specialists who have achieved a reputation for excellence in their field. On many occasions, Charlotte has been chosen by her peers as a Texas Super Lawyer, a Thomson Reuters business published by Texas Monthly magazine.
Born and raised in central Texas, Charlotte is a fifth-generation Texan and attended Sam Houston State University. After acquiring her bachelor’s degree in 1994, she worked as a law clerk for a prominent family lawyer while attending law school. Charlotte graduated from South Texas College of Law in 1998.
Charlotte Rainwater, founder of The Rainwater Firm, has devoted her practice solely to family law for her entire 20-year career. Recently, Charlotte expanded her practice to include collaborative law, mediation, and arbitration.
